Dr Alison Edgar MBE is a keynote and business speaker, two-time bestselling author, and the creator of The Intrapreneur Mindset. She helps organisations turn employees into people who think and act like owners.
Alison grew up in a high-rise council flat in Clydebank and left school with no qualifications, later understood to be dyslexic. Her real education began at 16 in hospitality, before a long career in sales where she became a consistent top performer, and a front-row view of corporate change at Yellow Pages that still shapes her work today.
She went on to build her own business, helping founders grow from start-up to multi-million-pound turnover and earning the nickname “The Entrepreneur’s Godmother”. In 2018 she published Secrets of Successful Sales, named one of The Independent’s Top 10 Business Books by Women, followed by the international bestseller SMASH IT! in 2021.
In 2020 Alison was awarded an MBE for services to entrepreneurship and business, and in 2024 an honorary doctorate in education — an irony not lost on the girl who struggled at school. She has spoken on the TEDx stage and appears regularly across the BBC. On stage she is high-energy, funny and practical, and every talk is tailored to the audience in the room.
